We are so sorry to announce that Nigel Hall-Smith passed away in the early hours of 16th October 2017 in hospital in Stevenage. He is pictured here receiving his CRMC Championship Trophy, which we presented to him just a few days earlier.
Nigel Hall-Smith with his CRMC Championship trophy in hospital
Poor Nigel has lost his battle against oesophageal cancer and passed away in the early hours of Monday, 16th October 2017. His wife Andye has been with him throughout his stay in hospital and he has been visited there by many friends in recent weeks.

"Having just announced the CRMC Championship results on the website last week, I was pleased to be able to phone and tell Nigel that he had won the Classic 1300 Clubman Twins Championship and he was so pleased. With some great work behind the scenes, our trophy supplier was able to get the trophy engraved and delivered to me within 24 hours and I arranged with Nigel and Andye to present it to him in Lister Hospital, Stevenage last Thursday. Although he was obviously in some pain and discomfort, he was nevertheless very pleased and proud to receive it.

I and many other CRMC members have enjoyed many good races against Nigel over the years and he never gave up, whether on track or off.

We pass on our most sincere condolences to our friend Nigel, who will be much missed in the CRMC paddock.

RIP Nigel

Very sad to hear this. Have some great memories of Nigel in the late 70s early 80s. His bedroom was like a motor cycle museum and I always think of him when I hear Deep Purple. Funny but I was in Ardnamuchan last week, we rode there on My Jota in August 1982 for a 4 points of the compass rally. Great guy
